Nudge

6th December - 15th December 2019

The hashtag that tells you that it's not a work by J but an advertisement by A… Things may appear similar but with a small twist they can easily be transformed into something else, and in those wobbly positions is where maybe we can find many fantastic art pieces, or at least that is how I have felt on many occasions. For example, that anecdote that K told me once, that I’ve been unable to repeat since because it owes a lot of its intensity to the way she told it, felt very close to a piece by F, whose works could be done by anyone, but are done by him. So many things change because of the context, the material or the size. And of course by the producer, but I do not want to go there…

It is maybe in the uncertain times we have agreed that we are living in right now, where we should perhaps appreciate more straightforward comments from the practitioners in the art world, but it could be that when the media is telling us how to behave and relate in every aspect of our lives that we should shift to art and artists to relax into the ambiguous space that some combinations of materials and shapes can offer.
When some things do not want to offer a clear interpretation or message we can get frustrated and lost, but I would rather welcome you to lose yourself and waste some time, as you would doing a 1000 piece puzzle of the sky, to Nudge, an exhibition by Michael Broschmann, Stephanie Koesling and Nina Laaf.
